Elmaghraby Best Student Paper Award > Description

The ILS advisory committee is proud to announce the 5th Salah E. Elmaghraby’s Best Student Paper Award, to be presented at the ILS 2018 conference in Lyon, France, in July, 8-11, 2018.

Professor Salah E. Elmaghraby has inspired so many researchers in operations research and industrial engineering and has positively and deeply impacted their research work. This Award is a tribute to acknowledge his remarkable contributions to the IEOR in general and to the ILS conference themes in particular.

The purpose of the Elmaghraby Best Student Paper Award is to recognise and reward outstanding scientific contributions made by doctoral researchers during their doctoral journey. The award is the ILS’ form of recognition and encouragement to those young researchers, in the field, who demonstrated excellence in their doctoral research.

The ILS PhD Student Competition Committee is seeking new perspectives and innovative ideas on research topics that address issues that fit within the scope of the ILS conference theme and concerns. Doctoral Students from around the world are invited to submit research papers that report upon their achievements.

The Competition aims at giving students the opportunity to share their research ideas and results in a special ILS forum that provides visibility for their research work. The students will also have the opportunity to meet and interact with ILS attendees to share ideas, gain new insights, and possibly discover practical applications to their findings. The ILS Competition Committee shall select the outstanding contribution, provide detailed feedback to each candidate about his/her research paper and presentation, and shall designate the award recipient.

Papers will be judged based on their contribution towards the advancement of theory and practice of Operations and Production Management, Supply chain management, Logistics and Information Systems.

The winner of the best student paper will receive 1000 € and a certificate. At most two “runner up’s” shall receive Certificates of Honourable Mention. This award is funded in part by a contribution from Kedge Business School, member of Bordeaux University.
